Dr Denis Egan

110MB BCh BAO D.Ch Dobst Dip.F.P.MICGP Dip.Therap. Denis Egan graduated from NUIG in 1987. Following several years working through medical specialitites in University College Hospital Galway he travelled abroad for further experience in Iraq and Australia. He returned to Ireland and following completion of the GP scheme began working as principal GP in Roundstone, Co.Galway. In 1994 he joined Spiddal Medical Centre. He has been involved in research and publications in many areas:Anticoagulation, Atrial Fibrillation, Osteoporosis, Restless Legs. He is on the National Steering Committee for Osteoporosis and Prevention of Falls in the Elderly and also the National Advisory Board for Proteolos. He has run Cardiovascular Risk Assessment Programmes in conjunction with Public Health. He teaches Medical Students in NUIG and is also a recognised GP trainer. Special Interests: Osteoporosis-DEXA Scanning and Cardiovascular Screening.

Dr Seamus O Beirn

MB BCh BAO DCh Dip Obst Dip.F.P. MICGP

107A graduate of NUIG 1972, Seamus worked in University College Hospital Galway and Cork prior to further training in Canada and London. He commenced practice in Spiddal in 1979. He has been a GP trainer for the past 20 years. He has also lectured in Behavioural Science and Communication Skills at NUIG . He maintains a special interest in Rheumatology, Allergy and Clinical Psychology.

Dr Sinead O Beirn

100Sinead O'Beirn graduated from NUI, Galway in 2003. She worked in University College Hospital Galway prior to further training in Emergency Medicine and Paediatrics in Australia and New Zealand. She returned to Ireland in 2007 and completed a 4 year Specialist Training in General Practice. She has completed further training and diplomas in Child health (RCPI), Dermatology (University of Cardiff), Women's Health (RCSI) and Medicine of the Elderly (UCD). She is fully trained in Mirena Coil and Implanon insertion and is certified with Irish Family Planning Association.

She has also worked with the STD unit in St James Hospital, Dublin and holds further qualification in this area.

She has training in minor surgical techniques and with her interest in Dermatology, provides a minor surgical service to patients of The Medical Centre.

Nurse Bernadine Rice

098Bernadine Rice qualified as a RGN in 1998. She spent 6 years nursing and worked as a nurse manager. She has completed diploma in Health Service Management and a higher diploma in Practice Nursing. She qualified as a Clinical Nurse Specialist in General Practice Nursing in 2008 and has been working in this area since. Bernadine joined Spiddal Medical Centre in January 2013.
